RailNOW! is an organization of concerned Austin citizens and businesses that advocate for a comprehensive and integrated passenger rail system for Austin and Central Texas (and sooner rather than later).  Passenger rail has been proposed, and debated, in Austin in various forms (light, commuter, urban) for over 35 years; and yet there is no overall published "plan" for a system of passenger rail that serves the current urbanized metropolitan area of Austin/Pflugerville/Round Rock; or one that will allow the 5 county Central Texas region to accomodate the growth that is coming in a more compact and sustainable way.

RailNOW! believes Austin, and the entire Central Texas region, is "way behind the curve" of planning (and implementing) a well-thought out passenger rail system (even with the passage of the 2003 public referendum that allowed the start of the Capital Metro Commuter Rail Red Line in early 2010).  We want to be an organization that allows area citizens, and businesses, who believe more passenger rail is needed now, to effectively advocate for just that - rail as a personal transportation choice.
